Found Sounds is a monthly audio journey created by composer and sound artist Alice Boyd for Ffern’s podcast As the Season Turns. Travelling across the UK, Alice captures immersive field recordings and conversations with people who live and work closely with the land.
Guests have included celebrated illustrator Jackie Morris, critically acclaimed writer Max Porter, Mercury-nominated folk musician Sam Lee, BBC Radio 6 Music broadcaster and writer Zakia Sewell, ecological grower and author Poppy Okotcha, and bestselling writer and mudlark Lara Maiklem.
Across the series, Alice has travelled from the heather-clad hills of Pembrokeshire, to the East Neuk of Fife, to the North Down coast, and along the tidal banks of the Thames in London. From orchards, meadows and urban nature reserves, to gardens, studios and workshops, Found Sounds explores the many different ways people find connection, livelihood and creative inspiration in the natural world.
Blending interviews, soundscapes and stories, each episode offers a meditative portrait of these relationships, and of the natural world as it shifts through the seasons.
