Join composer and sound artist Alice Boyd for an introduction to the art of field recording. In this one-hour, hands-on workshop, you’ll begin with a guided listening exercise before trying out different microphones and recording techniques at the festival. 

We’ll start with the basics, using easy-to-handle recorders, and then explore more unusual tools such as electromagnetic sensors and underwater microphones that reveal hidden layers of sound. Equipment will be provided (one recorder between two, with a pair of headphones each). Open to beginners and upwards - come ready to listen closely and discover new ways of experiencing the world around you.
