New song: a pink afternoon by the Danube • Alice Boyd, Kub0

An ambient collaboration shaped by the floodplains of the River Danube
Alice Boyd collaborated with Slovakian musician and producer Kub0 on a pink afternoon by the Danube, an ambient electronic track inspired by the wetlands surrounding the River Danube.
The pair met in Bratislava while Alice was visiting the city to give a TEDx talk on her work exploring shifting soundscapes. After discovering a shared love of ambient and electronic music, they began working together on a piece built around a field recording Alice had made during the trip.
The recording was captured on an afternoon spent exploring the Danube floodplains with Slovakian conservation organisation BROZ, listening for wildlife including fire-bellied toads and white-tailed eagles. Neither made an appearance that day, but the soundscape of the wetlands - including the calls of chaffinches (pinka in Slovak) - became the starting point for the track.
Working between Slovakia and the UK, Alice and Kub0 wove the recording into layers of synthesiser, electronics and soft vocals, creating a hazy musical reflection on the landscape and an unexpected collaboration that began beside the Danube.
a pink afternoon by the Danube was released on 17 September 2026.
